Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong(KCC) is pleased to present the first Media Art Project 2020 this year. KCC will introduce the promising media artists of Korea and their main artworks throughout the year.

The first artist SIN Ifie, works mainly with video as well as performance and installation. She received MFA at École européenne supérieure de l’image. SIN sees relationships from a micro-perspective, so does a scientist in a laboratory, and her idea starts from there. She is currently working and based in Seoul, South Korea. Total six video arts would be presented in multimedia room and VIP room, KCC from 7 Jan to 1 Feb including the latest works of her.

The exhibition is expected to show Hong Kong audiences the current trend of Korean media artwork by presenting selected media artists who cut a conspicuous figure in the field. The exhibition will be held from 7 January to 1 February 2020 on Multimedia and VIP room, on 6th and 7th floor of Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong.

About the Artist SIN Ifie

Artist’s Note

My interest starts with claiming micro-visualization processes of human relationships in groups and society as 'labs'.  Here, as an owner and observer the laboratory, I am trying to maintain on external view to genders, appearances, and occupations. Observing individuals who have narratives, I mark them as cells to a society with social censorship and its rules. In modern society, 'objectivity' of science has superiority and almost absolute authority, and at times it feels even religious. Some scientist came to the point of insisting a "creation" of life. Observations and experiments which committed under the words 'rational, objective, average' and the scientist's omnipotent point of view are also the motives of my work.
