【Festive Korea 2022】 Festive Korea Cinema - Korean Independent Film Showcase
In 2022, Korean films are actively being shown in different film festivals. Without any doubt, Korean film is being more recognized nowadays. At the same time, independent films also fight for their recognition in the category of Korean film.
Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong presents ‘Korean Independent Film Showcase’, aiming to increase the awareness of Korean independent film among Hong Kong audiences.
The showcase will film three of Korean independent film titled <Bori>, <Granny Poetry Club>and <The Road Called Life>.
<Bori> depicts an 11 years old girl call Bori is the only family member who can hear. As an elementary school student, Bori becomes more and more accustomed to talking with her friends while finding it hard to communicate with her family in sign language.
“Why am I the only person born different from my family?” The more she thinks about it, the more she feels alienated. Wishing to be deaf, Bori sees an old woman diver on TV who lost her hearing from long periods of diving.
Bo-ri jumps into the sea and loses consciousness…

<Granny Poetry Club> is about a change in the lives of 80-something “Granny Poetry Club” members who do what they want, when they want. They act like teenagers, joking, cheating, and laughing their time away.
They learn Hangeul and a new world opens before them as they progress. Slowly but surely, they begin writing poetry about their YOLO lives.

<The Road Called Life> is based on three famous Korean short stories. "When the Buckwheat Flowers Bloom" is about an old merchant Heo, who meets a young travelling merchant, Dong-I, who he realizes he shares a special bond with.
"Spring Spring" tells the story of a man who works as a laborer in the fields for a landlord who promised him he will let him marry his daughter. The landlord, however, keeps putting off the wedding“…
"A Lucky Day" is about a rickshaw driver Kim, who goes out to work, despite his sick wife asking him not to. He gets an unusually large number of customers that day, and begins to grow weary of his unusually lucky day.
