[K-Content] K-Opera in Hong Kong - High-fidelity Opera Screenings The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Korea National Opera (KNO). Throughout 2026, we will host a series of high-fidelity opera screenings in our Visual Library. Our curated programme offers a diverse selection from the world of opera, ranging from beloved European classics to unique Korean original productions: • Global Masterpieces: Iconic works including La Traviata, La Bohème, and The Marriage of Figaro. • Shakespearean Adaptations: Operatic interpretations such as Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. • K-Opera Originals: A special "Festive Korea" season featuring Korean originals like Hwajeonga and Prince Hodong. 19th Asian Film Awards Featured Programmes The Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) presents the featured programme for the 19th Asian Film Awards (AFA19), taking place from 14 to 22 March 2026. Centered on the theme "Us, in Cinema," the event highlights the unique and shared experience of the big screen. The lineup includes "Asian Cinerama," showcasing 11 titles with eight Hong Kong premieres, and the "In Conversation" series, featuring panel discussions with world-class filmmakers. [K-Film] 2025 Korean Independent Film Showcase HOME/LAND HOME/LAND: Korean Independent Film Showcase presents a selection of films by Korean independent directors that reflect on migration, home, and belonging. These candid portrayals Koreans living abroad or intersectional identities settling in Korea offer personal and honest explorations of what it means to find a sense of home and belonging in unfamiliar places. In Cambodia, Sli and Neyap struggle as members of a minority tribe, uncertain how long their lives can continue. Palestinian women Noura and Fatma aged in refugee camps, mourning children lost to occupation, while in Bosnia, Ramiza and Amela recount the precarious lives of Gypsy women facing racism. Meanwhile, the director’s two children grow into young adults, their family journey mirroring the women’s stories of endurance. Despite threats from her then-husband and the disapproval of Korean society, In-sun found love and chose to be with Soohyun. Now, the two of them—who came to work as nurses in a foreign country where they knew nothing of the language—are still there and already in their seventies. For half of their life, they have lived together in Berlin and shared in all the joys and sorrows of life. Soohyun and In-sun have stood in solidarity with other foreigners like themselves while also looking after one another. They are two people who overcame boundaries. This is their love story. The family was one of thousands families to be driven out in Sadang demolition area so called Daldongne, where sociological fieldwork started in 1986. Covering four-generation of the family up to 2019, the film testifies in vivid detail how the vicious circle of urban poverty is reproduced in various ways, ringing beyond the boundary of that one family. One day, he happens to catch the criminal by motorcycle accident and get a bounty. As he gets money, he would like to treat his Korean teacher and classmates to meals. My Little Television (마이 리틀 텔레비전)Li Hongmei | 2019 | Fiction | 24mins A TV producer from a broadcasting station in Yanji, China visits so-called Chinatown of Seoul, Daerim-dong, to interview a Chinese Korea family. The producer spends a day with them while shooting their daily lives.
