  1. [K-Food] The Taste of Korean Food: BoSsam

    BoSsam is usually served as food accompanying alcoholic drinks, and it usually consists of pork that is boiled with spices. The Koreans eat it by first thinly slicing it, then wrap it with lettuce and Kimchi.   The Korean of  BoSsam is보쌈.  보refers to a square cloth used to wrap things, while " 쌈" refers to Korean traditional dishes that is wrapped with vegetables.   “The Taste of Korean Food” in November will teach you how to make BoSsam and fresh Kimchi. KCCHK, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Korean Food Promotion Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will hold the ‘K-Food MasterChef in Hong Kong 2024’K-Food Cooking Contest on November 10 at the Towngas Cooking Centre.  This year's contest, titled "Jang"(Korean paste), requires contestants to use at least one of the three main Jang: Gochujang (chili paste), Doenjang (soybean paste) and Ganjang(soy sauce), to create a dish.  Besides the contestants, in order to help everyone better understand the taste and use of the Korean ‘Jang’,  KCCHK has prepared a special cooking class "Becoming K-Food MasterChef" to teach you how to make good use of the Korea paste!  If you want to become a K-Food MasterChef, register immediately!  Date & Time: 9th November (Sat) 11:00-13:00  Venue: K-Food Classroom, 6/F Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong   Application: https://forms.gle/PxmnUiN1HPVW6KHX8 (Free of Charge)  Application Deadline: 4/11 23:59(HKT)  (*Please note that if you did not receive any message from us on or before 7/11, you are NOT selected as participant.)  Enquiries:  Tel: 2270 3512

    Do you usually cook Chinese-style braised chicken at home? Do you know that there is a Korean way of braising chicken?   Andong Jjimdak is one of the most popular braised chicken dishes in Korea. As the name suggests, it originated in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and is made by braising chicken, vegetables, and glass noodles in soy sauce🥘   "The Taste of Korean Food" workshop in October will teach you how to cook Andong Jjimdak.     When is your birthday? What do you eat on your birthday?   Korean people eat a bowl of seaweed soup cooked by their mother on their birthday as a way of honoring their mothers who brought them to world. We can also oftenly see Japchae in Koreans’ birthday meal as it is a dish for celebration.   The second session of "The Taste of Korean Food" workshop in September presented by KCC will teach you how to cook these two dishes.     Good News! The Makgeolli Brewing Workshop held by KCC last month attracted more than 500 applicants! Seeing how enthusiastic the response was, KCC decided to add extra lessons! 🎉🎊 Those who couldn't attend last time, don’t miss the chance~!   The workshop will allow you to try doing some of the steps of Makgeolli brewing. After 2 weeks of fermentation, you can share it with your friends and family!   Want to make your own Makgeolli?
