[K-Food] Connecting to the World Cultural Talk: Korean Food Culture
The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong held the "Connecting to the World Cultural Talk: Korean Food Culture"at the City University of Hong Kong CXO Seminar Room on December 19 for college students and the general public.
The lecture introduced the history of Korean food, the concept of Obangsaek in Korean food, and the origin of kimchi. Gimbap was also distributed to the participants to let them learn about the concept of Obangsaek in gimbap while tasting gimbap.
"There are many Korean restaurants in Hong Kong these days. I learned the meaning and origin of Korean food I ate in those restaurants through the lecture," "I ate Kimbap while listening to the story of Korean food. Now I know more about the concepts behind Korean food." "I didn't know the origin of Korean food and types of kimchi before. We rarely hear about them. Thank you for introducing Korean food to us." the participants said.
In January, a workshop introducing Dosoju will be held to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Moreover, in the wake of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, a Korean food promotion event in collaboration with the local hotel InterContinental will be held. More K-Food events are coming soon!
