  1. [Exhibition] SUNFLOWER- Searching for Happiness

    Date: 21 Sep - 7 Oct 2023 , every Tue to Sat, from 10am to 6pm Venue: Korean Cultural Center, 7/F, Block B, PMQ The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong and T.O.LEE Porcelain Art will jointly present “SUNFLOWER- Searching for Happiness”, with the participation of 17 Korean artists and showcasing 29 porcelain artworks. It will be held on the 7/F of Korean Cultural Center, while another Korea-Hong Kong exchange porcelain paintings exhibition, “CONNECTTraveling HK MTR with Hangeul”, will be held on the 6/F. Sunflowers symbolize wealth and luck at all times and in all places. Thus, they were often painted in artworks to represent auspiciousness. In the exhibition, the artists incorporated sunflowers into their porcelain artworks in various ways. 駐香港韓國文化院聯同T.O.Lee瓷畫會呈獻《向日葵 - 尋找幸福》,邀請到17位韓國藝術家參與,共展出29件瓷器藝術作品。展覽將於駐香港韓國文化院7樓進行,而6樓將展出象徵港韓交流的瓷畫展《連繫 - 與韓古爾同遊港鐵》。 無論何時何地,向日葵都代表財富與好運,因此常於畫中被描繪為吉祥的象徵。 是次展覽中,藝術家們以不同方式將向日葵融入瓷藝作品。
  2. [Exhibition] CONNECT- Traveling HK MTR With Hangeul

    Date: 20 Sep - 7 Oct 2023 , every Tue to Sat, from 10am to 6pm Venue: Korean Cultural Center, 6/F, Block B, PMQ The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong presents “CONNECT- Traveling HK MTR With Hangeul”, a grand group exhibition with the participation of 98 artists, showcasing a total of 99 porcelain artworks themed with MTR stations. The exhibition will showcase porcelain artworks featuring calligraphy of the names of MTR stations written in the Korean alphabet, Hangeul. These artworks are designed by the calligraphy artist Lucia CHOI and painted with symbolic features and iconic attractions near the stations. The exhibition features the collaboration with various Korean and local porcelain painting artists associations including T.O.LEE Porcelain Art, The Hong Kong Porcelain Painting Club, International Porcelain Artists & Teachers Inc. Asia Chapter and AnE Porcelain Art. After the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong exhibition, the porcelain artworks will be displayed first in Central MTR station in December, and then later moved to Sheung Wan and Sai Wan Ho MTR stations from January to April 2024.

    2024 Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong Open Call for artists and curators   The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong(KCC) is now accepting proposals for the upcoming 2024 exhibition season.  We are planning to have an exhibition for open call artists in coming 2024 at the exhibition hall located in the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong.  It aims to support potential Korean artists and curators to find a larger market abroad.   Open Call Overview 1. Purpose - To promote cultural exchange between Korea and Hong Kong through exhibition - To introduce outstanding Korean art works to Hong Kong   2. Exhibition Period Approximately 2 months in the middle of 2024 ※ Exhibition dates to be adjusted later   3. Exhibition Venue Exhibition Hall, Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong (6-7/F, Block B, PMQ, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central)   4. Eligibility a) Individual Artists - Korean nationality - Three or more exhibition experiences   b) Group of Artists (a collective group of 3 or more artists) - More than 50% of the participating artists must be Korean nationals - The exhibition proposal showcasing either outstanding Korean art or cultural exchange between Korea and Hong Kong - Three or more exhibition experiences   c) Curator - Should submit an exhibition proposal consist of three or more artists More than 50% of the participating artists in the exhibition must be Korean nationals - The exhibition proposal showcasing either outstanding Korean art or cultural exchange between Korea and Hong Kong - Three or more exhibition curation experiences   ※ Artists and curators can submit any forms of art including fine arts, sculptures, installation works, media arts and etc, yet due to the limitation of the shipping cost, bulky and heavy works need to have a separate consultation with KCC.   5. Required Application Materials (Both Korean and English): Online applications to opencall@kcchk.kr with the following: - Completed application form (download the form below) - Artists/Curator Portfolio (PDF format, less than 20 pages, less than 10MB) - Images of the art work to present (JPEG format; image files should be less than 2MB) or video links (max. 5MB) - Exhibition Proposal (Only for the curators)   6. KCC will provide - Exhibition venue at the KCC (refer to the attached PPT file) - Curatorial support for solo artists ※ KCC will group the selected solo artists and curate them into group exhibition - Online press materials and PR support - 3 days of accommodation fee at PMQ (Heritage building for art and culture where KCC is located) - Shipping fee for the artworks - Leaflet and promotion materials (posters, etc) production fee - Opening Reception ※ The Opening Reception may not be held depending on the situation ※ All these supporting amounts will be offered within reasonable limited bounds.   7. The successful applicants are in duty to - Produce the leaflet and promotion materials (posters, etc) (accounts only to the curators) - Participate the exhibition installation and opening reception   8.     Dreamy (2023 Korean Young Artists Series) ㅇ Date :  May 25 - July 22 2023 ㅇ Venue : 6-7/F, Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong, Block B, PMQ ㅇ Organizer : Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong ㅇ Artists : PARK Gwangsoo, SONG Sumin, RYU Yaerim The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong highlights the works of three artists, PARK Gwangsoo, SONG Sumin and RYU Yaerim, on the theme of dreams and implicit possibilities. These artists leading Korean contemporary painting establish their art world on the canvas through different methodologies. Although the techniques, methods of expression and the themes they would reveal through their works are different, there is a common keyword in the works of the artists, which is 'the possibility arising from ambiguity'.     Concrete+Jungle (2023 Open Call Artists) ㅇ Opening Reception : 17 March 6-8 pm ㅇ Date : 17 March - 20 May 2023 ㅇ Venue : 6-7/F, Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong, Block B, PMQ ㅇ Organizer : Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong ㅇ Artists : KyungJin JEONG(鄭敬陳), Ken CHUNG(鍾家俊), Mindy LUI(雷恩兒), Yiseul JUNG(정이슬)   The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong presents the upcoming exhibition ‘Concrete+Jungle’, featuring the major artworks of the four artists, KyungJin JEONG(鄭敬陳), Ken CHUNG(鍾家俊), Mindy LUI(雷恩兒), Yiseul JUNG(정이슬), selected through Open Call 2023. These artists capture the everyday moments they witnessed through the artist's gaze, and expressed with the artist's own medium including painting, installation, photographs, video and more. Artists observe trivia and mundane objects and items surrounding them – inside residential environment, urban landscape. They have a keen insight into their daily space, looking at the ordinary without passing by. There will be an opening reception on 17 March, 6-8 pm with the presence of all the artists. It is open to the public so Korean Cultural Center kindly invites you to visit on this day and have a conversation with the artists.
