Jeeyun Kim’s solo exhibition m <other> explores identity, belonging, and the experiences of mixed-race families through photographic portraits of mothers and their children. Inspired by her own multicultural background and family, Kim began the project in 2010, examining how race, culture, and personal experiences shape individual identities. Accompanied by interviews, the portraits show that there is no single answer to questions such as “Where are you from?” or “Who are you?” The project emphasizes duality, connection, and the complex ways people negotiate heritage, culture, and self-definition in an increasingly globalized world.

Identity, Belonging, and Photography: Panel discussion on m<other> 光影廊道

Asia Society invites its members and the general public to a panel discussion on Friday Oct. 9, 6 pm at Miller Theatre in conjunction with the exhibition, m<other> 光影廊道 。Titled "Identity, Belonging, and Photography," the panel of scholars, journalists, and researchers will explore artist Jeeyun Kim's decade-long photography project m<other>, on mothers and their mixed-race children. By bringing together experts from intersecting disciplines, the discussion will examine mother-child bonds within interracial families as well as society at large, through the lenses of race, culture, anthropology and art history.

Boyoung Jeong solo exhibition  “歸樸 : The 0 Degree of Looking” @ THE HARTZ PROJECT

THE HARTZ PROJECT presents “歸樸 : The 0 Degree of Looking”, a solo exhibition by Korean artist Boyoung Jeong, until 31 October 2026.

The world does not stop spinning, but here, it holds its breath. The exhibition introduces a quietude that realigns the gallery into a living architecture of stillness, filtering out the noise of modern acceleration to reveal the zero degree of looking. Borrowing from Roland Barthes’ concept of neutrality, it proposes a gaze stripped of narrative weight, cultural noise, and emotional projection. In this space, looking ceases to be a passive consumption of images and becomes a pure, unmediated awareness of presence.

THE HARTZ PROJECT 呈獻韓國藝術家鄭寶英(Boyoung Jeong)個展《歸樸:The 0 Degree of Looking》,展覽將持續至 10月 31日。

Venue: Unit 01, 23/F, M Place, 54 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong

Date: September 19 – October 31, 2026
